High school students charged with impersonating officers
Two Cape Fear High School students have been charged with impersonating police officers during a burglary in Cumberland County.
Posted — UpdatedJordan Gilmore, 18, and Stephan Jones, 19, both of Fayetteville, are charged with second-degree kidnapping, robbery with a dangerous weapon, first-degree burglary and impersonating a police officer.
They were being held Monday in the Cumberland County Detention Center under $56,000 bonds. Jones later posted bond and was released.
Two people broke into a home on Kennel Road late Friday, flashing a Coats Police Department badge and and pointing a semiautomatic handgun at the four people inside.
Nobody was hurt in the incident, but the robbers fled with electronics, cash and a watch.
Coats police didn't return phone calls Monday, so it's unclear how the robbers obtained the police badge.
In a separate Cumberland County case, an Elizabethtown man is charged with impersonating a state Division of Alcohol Law Enforcement agent.
Fayetteville police said Dennis Allan Inman, 39, flashed an ALE badge inside Club Kizz on Bragg Boulevard early Friday.
Inman is accused of waving a handgun in the air and forcing all patrons of the club to stay inside. He's also charged with having a blue light illegally in his car.
