Are you heading to Raleigh for the HighSchoolOT.com Holiday Invitational

The tournament runs from Dec. 26-29, 2012, at Broughton High School, but when you aren't at the gym, you gotta eat and possibly shop.

So, I have scouted some local places to check out while you are in town.

Lodging:

Summit Hospitality GroupSummit Hospitality{{/a}} is one of the sponsors of the HighSchoolOT.com Holiday Invitational, with hotels in Raleigh, Durham, Chapel Hill, Charlotte, Wilmington and Pinehurst.

Other nearby hotels:

Clarion Hotel at the State Capitol, 320 Hillsborough St. - less than a mile driving distance from Broughton and is walking distance from North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences and restaurants Second Empire, The Borough and The Flying Saucer. Also, not too far away - The Roast Grill famous for its hot dogs.

Sheraton Raleigh Hotel, 421 S. Salisbury St. - Just over a mile from Broughton and walking distance from Sam & Wally's Eatery Deli, which has sandwiches, wraps and salads. It also isn't too far from Poole's, which has killer mac and cheese.

Raleigh Marriott City Center, 500 Fayetteville St. - Just over a mile away from Broughton and walking distance from ZPizza, Jimmy John's and Posta Tuscan Grille.

And newly opened Hampton Inn and Suites, 600 Glenwood Ave. - Less than a mile from Broughton and within walking distance of sports bar Draft and Tasca Brava, which serves authentic Spanish cuisine and tapas.

Shopping:

Cameron Village offers a ton of specialty shops, including White House & Black Market, Talbots and Bailey's Fine Jewelry, and dining options.

Crabtree Valley Mall is located nearly 4 miles from Broughton, but offers tons of stores and dining options, including Cheesecake Factory and PF Chang's.

Where to eat:

East Village Grill & Bar - praised by fans for its relaxed atmosphere, reasonable prices and cold beer.

Golden Corral -- for a choice that suits no matter what you hunger for, the buffet favorite has multiple Triangle locations.

MoJoe's Burger Joint - The name says it all at this no frills burger joint.

Mellow Mushroom - A little further down Peace Street but a great option for pizza, calzones, sandwiches.

The Rockford - Gourmet sandwiches and (Note they do not seat parties large than eight)

Tobacco Road Sports Cafe - Traditional sports bar fare. Great place to watch a game and eat some wings.

For a quick taste for the fried chicken loved throughout the South, visit one of the more than 25 Bojangles locations throughout the Triangle.

The Q Shack offers another Carolina specialty – tender, smoked BBQ!

Sugarland

At Cameron Village:

Chick-Fil-A - This new addition to Cameron Village is the nicest Chick-Fil-A we've ever seen. With two levels and plenty of outdoor seating (great on warmer days), it is great for large groups and those with children.

Cafe Caturra - Their stone hearth pizzas and paninis are so tasty. Also check out their brioche sliders - beer and lamb meatball, mushroom and barbecue pork.

Flying Biscuit - This place has some of the best biscuits and grits in town. They also serve lunch and dinner items, but it is hard to resist their breakfast served all day.

Noodles & Company - Like the name implies, noodles are the main attraction here, but they also serve salads and sandwiches.

Moe's Southwest Grill - Burritos, nachos, quesadillas

Which Wich - a great place for deli sandwiches and shakes

Cafe Carolina - grilled paninis, flatbreads, soups, salads and sandwiches. They also serve some great brunch and bakery items.

Village Draft House - Pasta, sandwiches, pitas and entrees including meatloaf, fried shrimp and Smokey Mountain Chicken covered in mixed cheeses, bacon and barbecue sauce.

Cantina 18 - Mexican fare including short rib nachos and spicy orange glazed shrimp.

Cameron Bar & Grill - Located right next to Flying Biscuit, this place offers a variety of sandwiches, wraps and entrees, including shrimp and grits and bison meatloaf.

Village Deli - Traditional deli items, burgers and chicken sandwiches and a good seafood selection including oyster po'boys and shrimp.

Indulge your sweet tooth at newly opened Sugarland, which is known for its cupcakes and homemade gelato, or head over to Goodberry's for some frozen custard.
