High Point apartment fire injures two

A large fire in the Hunters Point Complex in High Point injured two people and displaced 12 families early Sunday, according to WFMY, a local CBS News affiliate.

HIGH POINT, N.C. — A large fire in the Hunters Point Complex in High Point injured two people and displaced 12 families early Sunday, according to a local CBS News affiliate.

WFMY reports that the fire started shortly after 5 a.m. in a two-story building off Shadow Valley Road, near U.S. Highway 311. Flames shot through the building's roof.

Firefighters evacuated residents from the burning building and also from an adjoining building as a precaution.

The conditions of the injured wasn't available Sunday afternoon. The Red Cross was assisting the displaced families.

Capt. Denita Lynch with the High Point Fire Department told WFMY that the fire started on the second floor. The cause was under investigation.
