Hi Tech Teens returns for middle school, high school students

Hi Tech Teens, an opportunity for middle school and high school students to explore STEM topics, returns to the Wade Edwards Learning Lab in Raleigh this month.

The program emphasizes computer science, but other STEM topics also are explored as part of the series. No prior knowledge is required. The goal is to encourage exploration and curiosity.

Starting March 18, the lab, which is across the street from Broughton High School, will host a workshop featuring Scratch and Python, both programming languages. All levels of programming are invited.

More topics are planned in April, May and this summer. Registration is required.

The lab also will launch the Malkuta Project, a multimedia workforce development program that links teens with creative professionals, teaches multimedia production (video production, editing), and produces content for organizations.

Students will have the opportunity to learn the entire video production process, as well as create content and receive job shadowing and potential internship opportunities with actual companies. Workshops will take place from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., Thursdays, starting this week.
