Here’s what the twins from ‘double teamed’ look like 15 years later

Posted June 19

OK, let me just say that I most definitely remember this movie. It was a favorite for both me and my sister, and can I also mention that it makes me feel kind of old to know that this year marks the 15th year since “Double Teamed” aired on the Disney Channel.

The movie is based off of the lives of actual twin sisters Heidi and Heather Burge, who went on to play in the WNBA.

On-screen, the sisters are played by Poppi Monroe and Annie McElwain. The story follows the twins in high school. They live with their father, who is very adamant that they play basketball. In doing so, the sisters learn a lot about the sport, about themselves and about each other along the way.

And time has been very good to these two.

Because 15 year later, they look absolutely incredible and still seem to be doing great things, even though that doesn’t seem to involve acting anymore…or playing basketball.

According to Monroe’s Facebook page, she’s now a Market Manager for Huneeus Vintners, a wine company.

And lucky for us, she’s very active on social media, so we can see that she’s hardly changed a bit in 15 years. I most definitely still recognize her as Heather from the movie!

As for McElwain, who played Heidi in the film, she went on to become a wedding photographer, and was even named one of the best wedding photographers by Martha Stewart.

Now she’s married, and she recently gave birth to a baby girl.

She also barely looks a day older than she did when “Double Teamed” premiered in 2002, so all seems to be going well for her.

As for the actual Burge sisters, they both retired from basketball in the early 2000s (before the movie was ever released), but according to their Facebook pages, they’re now living happy lives with their families.

I’m a sucker for a happy ending, so I’m glad to see that, 15 years later, the “Double Teamed” cast and the women the story was based on are all doing just fine!
