Henderson youth wounded during target shooting

Posted November 8, 2010

— A 12-year-old was hit by a shotgun blast outside a Henderson home Sunday afternoon, authorities said Monday.

Jonathan Jackson, 20, of 536 Lemay Lane, was target shooting near his home shortly before 2 p.m. when one of the shots hit Jacob Orr, who was visiting the home, according to the Vance County Sheriff's Office.

Orr was taken by pickup from the shooting site to a nearby intersection, where paramedics transported him to Maria Parham Medical Center. He was later transferred to Duke University Hospital, but his condition isn't known.

Vance County deputies are investigating the shooting, and no charges had been filed as of Monday afternoon.
