I keep hearing, you don't know all the details...I really would like to know what details make it okay? Please, do tell us the details so that we may understand. I feel for your family, I truly do. But I don't think it's okay to excuse it because of the "details". Wrong is wrong, danger is danger, and the safety of other children was completely jeopardized by him. No, the crazy talk about killing him is just that..crazy and absurd. But the details would helpful.

smcallah-it was NOT a fatal mistake...nobody was hurt. Yes somebody could have been hurt but that was not the case. If you made a bad decision at 14 or your child you wouldn't make all the comments that you are making. It's a ashame that no one has posted that they will be praying for this kid. You should all be ashamed and I hope that you don't make a mistake in your life or someone that you love. Most of you don't know what you are talking about, you don't know all the details....

Yes I know this was serious, but he did not shoot anyone. Some people on here are talking about death, he is only in middle school, really people?

iwasjustsaying. I don't think there will be a next time for this boy. I might be wrong, but I don't think he will be let back into the public school system, and a Charter school is public school. He is so young - only 14. I hope somebody can give him the help that he needs, starting at home.

"Red: did you ever think this kid could have been bullied to the point that he felt this was his only recourse? Does that make him a criminal or a victim?"

It would make him both if that is the case. And how would a gun be your only recourse? A gun should be your only recourse to save your life or the life of others. Not as a bullying deterrent.

Of course people know the situation, and you admit to it. He brought a gun to a school.

People want to judge him for bringing a gun to a school, which is what he did.

Calling it just a "bad mistake" doesn't even keep it on the same level as any old "bad mistake." Shoplifting is a bad mistake that is not fatal.

Bringing a gun to a school can be a fatal mistake. And that is worse than bad. Sure, it didn't come to that this time. But that doesn't make it seem any better, especially to the parents of those other kids that didn't all bring guns to a school.

I cannot believe some of the comments on here. You people do not even know the situation, most of you probably do not even know the kid. I went to this school and graduated last year.Vance Charter is not a private school, it is a public school which only goes up to the eighth grade. I will not have people talking trash about this school or this person. I know this kid and he is not a bad kid, he just simply made a bad mistake. So before you want to judge him for something, get your facts straight.

I cannot believe the comments; when you don't even know the situation. This child my nephew and he made a BAD mistake, and yes he knows right from wrong, but it is heartbreaking for my family. You are not GOD so do not judge others. This family is really hurting, until you are in this situation don't judge. Just think if you 14 year old made a bad decision how you will feel about all the comments.

And I bet you were sure your child was safe there until yesterday too. As a matter of fact, mine goes there too. I am grown, and I am concerned parent, and doing all my homework to make sure my child is safe. You know this kid so well you are "sure" he's going to think about it next time, right?

I agree. But you support Bachmann who LOVES your tax dollars. LOL WOW just WOW. Get more coffee!
    November 11, 2011 11:27 a.m.

Rep. Bachmann puts my tax dollars to good use by opposing abortions and gay marriage and making sure America doesn't lead from behind.

Since Ron Paul wants to hold hands and be friends with Iranian criminals and goons, is it safe to say he'd like to do the same with ours?
