Henderson student charged with bringing gun to school

Henderson, N.C. — A student at Vance Charter School in Henderson was charged with bringing a gun to school on Thursday, police said.
School personnel contacted police about a gun on campus around 1:30 p.m. Authorities determined that a student had brought the gun from home.
The student, whose name was not released, left campus before police arrived. He was located off-campus and charged with possession of a firearm by a minor and possession of a firearm on school property.
The student was in the custody of juvenile services on Thursday, police said.
