Henderson school closes early

Posted February 17, 2009

— Crossroads Christian School in Henderson dismissed students early Tuesday after a heating system failure.

On the school’s Web site, an image of a penguin carries the message: "Brrr ... It's too cold for school."

The school posted an alert to WRAL's closings system before 9:30 a.m. Parents were asked to pick up students no later than 10:30 a.m.

Could have burnt some books to stay warm.

Jat, I love you! You said lungs full not lungfuls!! I thought correct plurals had gone extinct (I find my spelling and grammar have suffered from too much surfing over the years).

No, no snow. Took the bus, which also wasn't heated or cooled. But did provide lungs full of nice diesel smoke. Maybe that's what's wrong with me....

    Through three feet of snow.

JAT- I bet you walked to school in snow uphill both ways too.

Yeah JAT, but back then parents probably would not sue the school system for any adverse conditions that little Johnny or little Susie might experience.

It's too cold for school? Really? We often didn't have heat in my schools. We just wore coats and made do. It's too cold where I work, too. Do I get to go home?
