— Henderson's police chief is stepping down. The city manager announced Friday that Chief Keith Sidwell will leave his post at the end of the month.

Sidwell is out amid an uptick in crime in the city that has sparked recent community meetings, walks and vigils.

He held the post since January 2007.

That's unfortunate, he was a pretty good chief and he sure had a tough place to work. It's not like crime is a new thing to Henderson, they have always had a high violent crime rate. I wish him the best in what ever he moves on to next.

Some comments say he was fired. I hope that is not so.

This is too bad. I think they will feel his loss. Crime is out of control there as it is. Watch out.

The problems start with DRUGS. He should be able to go on vacation for 100 years for dealing with this town.

Keith has been one of the ONLY good things to happen in this town in a long time. We have a lot of problems here. They start with the criminal element that has been infiltrating us for years, either by moving in or not having good role models for our young people in their own homes and neighborhoods. The police department and the chief can't stop the problems. Good, quality parenting is what we need now. Sure hope that happens before it's too late.

The story sure makes it seem that way.

Sounds like he was fired but allowed to resign as a way of retaining his dignity. That town has a world of problems.

Your post sounds like libel, nothing like hiding behind a pseudonym.

    "Sounds like he was fired"

No. And the story is incorrect. He retired from law enforcement and is moving back home out of state according to their local paper's website.
