Henderson man shot during Craigslist exchange

Posted July 31, 2015

— A Henderson man was shot after a Craigslist deal turned sour in Vance County Thursday night, according to authorities.

Christopher Scott Wilson, 34, was traveling with his 16-year-old son, Robert Heisler, to purchase a 2002 Honda vehicle on Sombrero Lane.

When he arrived, the seller of the vehicle asked how much money Wilson had with him. Wilson noticed the car he agreed to purchase was not visible, so he decided to leave.

According to authorities, the seller fired into Wilson’s car, grazing the left side of his head.

“He started to reach behind his back,” Wilson said. “I took off, and that’s when he fired the shot through my truck.”

Wilson said he went to a nearby store to call police.

“I had to get somewhere before I passed out,” Wilson said. “I just had to save my son.”

Wilson was treated and released from a nearby hospital.

The suspect of the shooting is still at large, according to officials.

Wilson said he had spoken with the seller for two days and agreed on a price of $900 for the vehicle.

“At first he looked like a normal person waving his hands and everything,” Wilson said. “I thought it was legit.”

The Vance County Sheriff’s office said the department will offer an escort to any citizen responding to a Craigslist ad within Vance County.

Troll Warning!! Do not feed the trolls between 12 noon and midnight, or between midnight and noon.

Mr. "Smirth" has subscribed to the current media agenda of making ALL guns appear evil, and ALL gun owners, likewise. His statement was sarcasm regarding the responsibility of the only person who had, and used a gun, in this situation.

It is against WRAL policy and most liberal news sites to list a description of suspects in a crime. That should answer your question as to the particular demographic of the suspect.

Not trying to be funny Mr.Dosis but just because you and your girlfriend are "good shots" doesn't mean you can't be a victim. If that's the case, cops and soldiers would never die.....they shot for a living.

When I do Craigslist exchanges, I always carry a concealed handgun. If Possible, I bring my girlfriend who is also licensed for concealed carry and is a heck of a shot. She's my backup ;-)
It's sad that predators use Craig's list to find their pray. I hope they never mistake me for a victim.

If he was a responsible gun owner, he would have shot back! Criminals don't obey gun laws...How hard is that to understand???

Must be another "responsible" gun owner.

Why didn't they list the description of the suspect?

Just glad Mr. Wilson was not fatally harmed. Hope he recovers soon, and law enforcement catch the person who did this to him.

I believe that was Orange County, but I think there are others that do this as well.
