Henderson man charged in shooting death
A Henderson man has been charged with murder in a weekend shooting death, police said Tuesday.

Juan Antwon Miles, 30, of 707 Champion St., was charged with first-degree murder, possession of a firearm by a felon and discharging a firearm into an occupied dwelling. He was being held Tuesday in the Vance County Jail without bond.
Henderson police officers responded to a reported shooting at the Variety and Tobacco Mart, on East Andrews Avenue, at about 11 p.m. Friday and found Jamario Neal, 19, of Henderson, face-down on the ground with a gunshot wound.
Neal died at a nearby hospital.
Police didn't disclose a possible motive in the shooting or details about what evidence led to Miles' arrest.
State Department of Correction records show that Miles' criminal record dates to 1999 and includes convictions for selling drugs and assault on a female. He was released from prison in January after serving a little more than a year for a conviction for possession of a firearm by a felon.
