Henderson man accused in auto parts theft

A Henderson man was charged Tuesday in connection with the theft of $2,750 worth of auto parts from a store on Raleigh Road.

HENDERSON, N.C. — A Henderson man was charged Tuesday in connection with the theft of $2,750 worth of auto parts from a store on Raleigh Road.

Henderson Police said Wednesday they arrested Corey Cheek Sr., 37, of 315 Davis St., after a short foot chase Tuesday. He is accused in the larceny of 11 batteries and cables from Auto Mart of Henderson.

Investigating Officer W.R. Aiken found some of the stolen items at Sadler’s Recycler on J.P. Taylor Road and worked with the business managers to identify a suspect.

Cheek is charged with first-degree trespassing, possession of stolen property, obtaining property by false pretenses, and 11 counts each of breaking and entering into a motor vehicle, larceny of motor vehicle parts and injury to personal property.

Cheek was held in the Vance County jail under a $175,000 secured bond. He is scheduled for a court hearing Aug. 13.
