HENDERSON, N.C. — Local and state authorities are investigating a Henderson day care after a 2-year-old girl's collarbone was broken, police said Wednesday.

Renezia Fisher's mother, Andrea Hawkins, reported it to police on Oct. 25, after her daughter complained about her arm hurting while getting ready for bed.

Hawkins said an employee of Above & Beyond Child Care Center told her that Renezia was playing when another child knocked her down. Renezia got up and didn't complain, the worker told Hawkins.

A spokeswoman for Vance County Department of Social Services said the agency investigated the case and found that the injury was accidental.

The case was then turned over to the state Department of Health and Human Services, which is looking to see if there are any license violations, a DHHS spokeswoman said.

No one from the day care was available for comment Wednesday.
