Raleigh police arrested a teenager on Wednesday in connection to the death of a 13-year-old girl earlier in the week. According to the Raleigh Police Department, Mykia Daniel, an eighth-grader at Ligon Middle School, was shot and killed on Monday in a north Raleigh Apartment. Police said the investigation is ongoing and more information will be released at the appropriate time.

<b>SPRING LAKE, N.C.</b> — Supporters lent a helping hand to the family of Cumberland County girl who drowned in early June.

The family held a fund raiser Saturday to raise money to erect a headstone for Babara Jay Lynn Dumars.

The band No Request, from Sanford, provided entertainment, and local businesses donated food and raffle prizes.

Dumars, 7, was playing with friends when she drowned in a Spring Lake pond on June 3.
