Help a Mom: How do you mark the last day of school?

Posted June 4, 2013

As the school year winds down ... at least for traditional calendar students ... lots of families are looking for ways to celebrate the last day of school.

I know that I'm very lucky that I'm always at the bus stop when my own grade schooler steps off the bus. In past years, we've had friends over for water play and watermelon or gone out for smoothies with other friends on the last day.

Does your family, street or neighborhood celebrate the big day? If so, how?

My graduating Kindergartener wants to go to the pool

My graduating senior wants to go to Angie's Restaurant in Garner with her grandparents. My high school freshman simply wants to go to Chili's for lunch on her last day of exams. We like celebrating the last day, but more so their efforts for the year. I am the one that wants to celebrate no more 5am wakeup to catch the bus at 6am!
