Help a Mom: Dance classes for kids

Published: 2012-11-20 20:20:00
Updated: 2012-11-20 20:20:00

I'm putting together a database of programs for kids across the region - sports programs, art classes, music lessons and other extracurricular activities.

So I'm asking for your help to compile the list as part of our Help a Mom segment.

Today, I'd love to hear about dance classes for kids. Do you have a favorite studio in the region? Please share so I can include it on the list!

Do you have a favorite? Please share your tips in the comments box below. (If you don't see the comments box below, you'll need to log in or sign up for a WRAL account. You can do that by going to the top of the page and clicking on either "log in" or "register").

Help a Mom features questions from readers every Wednesday. If you have a question that you'd like to ask Go Ask Mom readers, click here to email it to me.

CC & Co Dance Complex. Best in the area bar none. Wonderful professional courteous office staff, top-notch teachers. Reasonably priced costumes for the Gala. CC has had 3 of her students make the Top 20 finalists on So You Think You Can Dance. My daughter is very happy and has grown in her technique and personal style. Check them out!

Danny's Durham Dancing Dynamics

Elite Dance of Durham. Very affordable and a wide array of classes for kids ages 2 and up

I second the DaZone in Garner. I like that they do not require a specific color/ type of dance outfit. Makes it easier and cheaper with changing sizes of children. My 3 year old loves her teacher and has a blast on a weekly basis.

The Danze Zone in Garner is a great facility too. I started my daughter there when she was 2 1/2. She even participated in their year-end recital which I have to admit I was skeptical that they could teach girls her age to perform a choreographed routine - but they did it! The recital is a well run event that spans all ages and dance styles. They even have a dance routine for the parents if you want to join in the fun. Their dance season runs from August through May, with summer session also available. You can join at any time though (I started my daughter in January).

Wake Forest Academy of Fine Arts is terrific. They have programs starting with a Mom and Me class on up. They added Saturday classes to the schedule this year as well. We have been dancing with them for 9 years. The directors and teachers are wonderful and there is a great family atmosphere.

Main Street Dance Fuquay!!

DANCE CENTER IN KNIGHTDALE

Holly Springs School of Dance. Warm loving environment. Many performing opportunities. All dance styles taught. Very sweet and talented teachers and an AMAZING director. Highly recommend!

We've been going to Main Street Dance in Fuquay for almost 4 yrs now (started @ age 3)and we love it there! Very family oriented, geared towards the pre-schoolers, and grooms them into potential life long dancers. All of the staff is wonderful, very nurturing and caring, yet disciplined with the young ones. Tuition is reasonable, costumes/recitals are gorgeous and fun! Highly recommended! Wendy runs a top-notch dance program :-)
