Hello Kitty, goodbye money: Fayetteville robber sports pink backpack

Police said Wednesday that they are investigating four robberies in Fayetteville in the last week in which the robber carries a pink Hello Kitty backpack.

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — Police said Wednesday that they are investigating four robberies in Fayetteville in the last week in which the robber carries a pink Hello Kitty backpack.

The robberies started on Friday morning at the Short Stop at 1015 Hope Mills Road. The robber held up the convenience store a second time on Sunday night. On Monday night, the O'Reilly Auto Parts store at 5401 Raeford Road was robbed, and a Kangaroo convenience store at 5201 Raeford Road was robbed early Wednesday.

In each case, the robber wore a black or gray hooded sweatshirt, a ski mask and camouflage pants and brandished an antique-style pistol in addition to toting the distinctive backpack, police said.

No injuries have been reported.
