JOHNSTON COUNTY, N.C. — Heavy rain on the final day of the work week caused the Neuse River to rise to high levels in Johnston County.

Residents took advantage of the high water Friday, which created a shooting gallery for fishing from a truck with a bow and arrow.

"We enjoy it while it's up," said fisherman Chad Pierce. "You take aim and you hit your target."

Pierce enjoys fishing out of his truck, but says the water can be dangerous.

"I had to pull a lady out once," he said.

Assistant Fire Marshal, Banks Wallace said the additional rain causes worsening conditions.

Authorities cautioned residents to be extra careful around the high water through the weekend.
