Highland Brewing Company's line of New England-style IPAs is heavenly.

Each beer got it name from a church sign: The first was called Radical Departure, and it will be followed this week by Sign of the Times. The second installment will have a package-only release at the Asheville brewery, while the Triangle will see it only on draft.

"This thing is as opaque as can be, and super juicy," Tyler Vet, the company's retail account manager for the Triangle, said on the 919 Beer Podcast. "So, it's awesome."

Coming up soon, too, is Highland's release of Cold Mountain Winter Ale. The cold-weather favorite will drop again on Nov. 16, but Vet said he didn't know when its imperial iteration would be available.

Just a couple weeks after Cold Mountain returns, Highland will also have Black Watch ready to go. Vet said brewers are tasting chocolate now to put into the double chocolate milk stout, which will be released on Black Friday.

"It's awesome. I don't know what else to say besides that," Vet said.

Black Watch is part of Highland's Big Beer, Small Batch series, which released POW! Triple IPA in August. The next in the series to be brewed is Imperium, a coffee and coconut Russian imperial stout, which is out in the early part of next year.
