Heat + humidity keeping it 100 over Triangle area
After days of relatively cool, dry weather, temperatures will shoot back up on Friday afternoon and remain high through the weekend.
Posted — UpdatedA high pressure system over North Carolina will keep the Triangle dry for high school football games, and the chance of rain stays low through the weekend. But the hot weather is back, at least for a while.
"It'll be a hot day, it'll be a humid day today," said WRAL meteorologist Aimee Wilmoth.
High humidity during the day will couple with the rising temperatures to make it feel like triple digits again.
"Our dew point will be in the 70s, so I think our 'feel-like' temperature, or the heat index value, likely around 100 to 101 (degrees) later on this afternoon," Wilmoth said. "So, take it easy if you're going to be outdoors for an extended period of time."
The high temperature in Raleigh will reach 96 degrees, but most counties in the region will be right around 90 degrees at 7 p.m. when football games kick off. Those temperatures will drop into the low 80s by the games' ends.
Hot weather will remain through the weekend, with high temperatures in the mid-90s again on Saturday and low 90s on Sunday. Temperatures will squat in the low 90s through most of next week.
