Seattle, WA — Nonnie Sye was pulling into Borracchini's Bakery on Rainier Avenue in south Seattle on May 3 to pick up a birthday cake for her grandson when a gunman in a silver four-door sedan pulled up next to her Dodge Charger and opened fire.
"I heard a pop, pop, pop, pop, pop," Sye said.
She looked over and her 16-year-old daughter in her car had been hit multiple times.
Kahlani Shabazz died in her mother's arms.
"I spoke to her and told her: Hold on, Mommy's here, fight for me. She took her last three breaths and those last three breaths told me, 'I love you' -- and that was it," said Sye.
