Fremont, N.C. — A 19-year-old died Monday morning in a head-on collision on Interstate 795 near Fremont, authorities said.
Hunter Michael McManus of Wilson was southbound on I-795 at about 6:30 a.m. when his vehicle veered left, went through a guardrail and across the median near Robert Peel Avenue into oncoming traffic, according to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol.
McManus was killed in the wreck, and the other driver, whose name hasn't been released, was airlifted to Vidant Medical Center in Greenville, authorities said.
The crash remains under investigation, but authorities said they have ruled out alcohol as a factor.
