Harris Teeter & Lowes Foods coupon event brag thread!

Posted April 26, 2013

I moved this brag thread to the top so you could find it more easily. Here's the place to share your great register totals, funny stories, coupon disasters and all things Triples at Harris Teeter and Super Doubles at Lowes Foods this week! I have also included the totals, breakdown of purchases and photo from my HT shop on Wednesday.

You can find the deals lists in the link in the box above.

Here are the totals from my Harris Teeter shopping trip on Wednesday, 4/24:

Subtotal before sales and coupons: $54.32

Total saved: $53.91

Total paid: .41

Percent saved: 99%!!

To figure % saved, divide the amount saved by the total amount before sales and coupons. The total amount before sales and coupons is found by adding the amount paid and the Coupons Tendered number. For my totals above, the calculation looks like this:

$53.91 divided by $54.32 = .99 (99%)

Here are the items I purchased and coupons used:

1 Muellers Hidden Veggie Pasta, $1.00 on sale - .55/1 coupon from 4/7 SS = FREE!

3 Quaker Popped rice cake snacks, $1.00 sale - .55/1 coupons from 4/14 RP = FREE!

3 Quaker Big Chewy granola bars, $2.00 (using raincheck) - .75/1 coupon from 4/14 RP = FREE!

3 Sister Shubert's mini loaves, BOGO for $2.14 - .75 coupon from 3/24 = FREE!

3 Minute RIce frozen brown rice, $1.66 - .50 coupon from 3/3 = .16 each

2 Snyders' whole grain tortilla chips, $2.50 sale - .75 coupon from 4/7 SS = .25 each

1 Mardi gras napkins, 250 count, $1.99 sale - .55/1 printable coupon from a few weeks ago = .34

1 Motts Snack & Go: $2.00 (using raincheck) - .55/1 printable coupon from over a month ago = .35

3 Nutri-grain fruit crispy bar boxes, $2.50 - .70 coupon from 33/ RP = .40 each

In addition to the manufacturer's coupons, I also used a $2 CVS ECB competitor's coupon to bring the total down to 41 cents.

This is the first time I haven't had time to go through all of my coupons and haven't even looked at the zvr's, but I still made an attempt at HT this evening with my unorganized coupons! Spent $4.92 after coupons. I got 3 Mueller's Hidden Veggie Thin Spaghetti's for free, 4 bags of Andy Capp's Hot Fries for free, 2 jars of Ragu, 1 Quaker Yogurt Bars, 1 Quaker Soft-Baked Cookies, and a bag of Green Giant Veggie Chips (Bzzagent coupon).

I went to Lowe's Foods this weekend to use up my remaining Bzzagent coupons on the Glade Fragrance Mist Starter Kits and got those for free...but I did splurge on Blue Bunny ice cream, so I think I failed as a couponer. :(

Got to HT this afternoon. I did well but the pepsi deal didn't ring up correctly so I got an even better deal. 2 large bottles of Tabasco (they were B1G1 and I had 0.50 coupons so only 0.58 each), 2 boxes of Success rice (2/4 on sale, 0.50 coupons for each, 0.50 each), 2 bags OR cinnamon crunch popcorn (2/4 then I had a 0.75/2 coupon, so 1.75 for 2 of them), 3 Quaker Real Medley Oatmeal (after coupon 0.50 each), 2 Frank's Sweet Chili Sauce, 2 - 8 piece baked Chicken (evic special for me, plus each had a $2 off coupon on it, so they were less then $2 each), 2 Land o Lakes Half and Half (0.50 each after coupon), 3 -12 packs Pepsi products (evic special), 1- 8 pk pepsi product (small cans free with the purchase of the 3 -12 packs), 1-12 pack of A&W Rootbeer (B1G1) and 1 gallon of milk (I was out). Total OOP was 23.00, savings was 62.60 (73.13%).

So nice to meet you at the Southern Women's Show yesterday, baileyandbailey! That is such a crazy story about the LF cashier.

I am going to make another HT trip today after I finish the meal planning class at the show.

I was happy with my purchases this time at Lowes Foods in Knightdale. Recently the cashiers have been very pleasant. However, in the past I have had a few awful experiences there. The worst was when they overcharged for an item. I remembered the policy says if it rings up wrong then it's free. Many times I have noticed this happened after getting home and let it slide. This time I asked about this policy and the cashier said "oh, you're one of those, a shyster!" They wouldn't give me my money back. I was outraged and embarrassed and left the store. I decided after I calmed down to call corporate. I only asked about the policy. They said I was right and would have that store call me. Never happened. I went in the next day and spoke with the manager. I told him about the shyster comment as well. Ended up he refunded the amount and said they would work on customer service. A few more times there were attitudes but it seems better now.

bonnie - the coupons with the shorter barcode (not the ones with the newer longer one) start with either a 5 or a 9. If it starts with a 9, even if it does not say Do Not Double, it still will not double or triple. If it does not say DND, make sure you let the cashier know when it rings up that it did not double/triple and to please manually enter it. They should be find with it as long as the coupon does not prohibit doubling/tripling anywhere in the wording.

bparrish - great job with your donation savings!

Has anyone found the light bulbs at Lowes? I have looked for the last 3 days with no luck.
