Harris Teeter Super Doubles brag thread!

Published: 2013-02-23 12:55:00
Updated: 2013-02-23 12:56:30

I moved up the brag thread so you can keep sharing your deals and see everyone's great buys! Here's the place to share your great register totals, funny stories, coupon disasters and all things Super Doubles at Harris Teeter this week!

Good luck and have fun!

Here are the totals for my shop on Wednesday morning at the crack of dawn!

Subtotal before sales and coupons: $63.72

Total saved: $63.34

Total paid: 38 cents!

% Saved: 99%

As you can see from the grocery and receipt pictures above, I bought milk, yogurt, cheese, applesauce, 100% juice, mango salsa, pancakes, butter, spices and hair care. The only reason the candy bar is there is because I had a negative balance and had to grab something to get into the positive!

I used a combination of coupons, HT ZVR digital e-VIC coupons, rain checks for the pancakes ($2.50 - $1 coupon from the DeWafelbakkers calendar they sent a couple months ago with coupons =  .50), Sorrento cheese sticks (BOGO raincheck - $1 coupon = .50 each) and a competitor's coupon.

There are a ton of good deals with this Super Doubles event and I look forward to shopping Thursday after the class in Fuquay!

Thanks to all of you for sharing your great deals and for helping to answer questions.

oh, appstate, the savingstar coupons can take a couple weeks to show up as purchased/saved on your savingstar account, they have to get the downloaded data sent to them from the stores and some stores are quicker than others.

"My Savingstar coupons did not come off either so I am not sure what is up or why." - appstate

Your Savingstar coupons don't come off at the store, those accumulate and you can draw the money out through paypal when it hits $5 or more. They are really like a cash bonus since it does not inhibit your use of paper coupons and ZVR coupons at HT, it's like three savings on the same products sometimes :)

Same with Ibotta - another level of savings on some items that just takes the savings up another notch :)

appstate - I had the same problem with my ZVR's tonight, $4.50 worth and luckily I remembered to check and got it refunded right away - they are so great about handling those 'issues' and they obviously have a buggy system, sometimes they work like a charm, and sometimes they don't although it's a recent issue.

pigqueen - we LOVE our HT's - all of them :) You are simply the best of the best! Customer service is top notch and no one compares!! Just know you're greatly appreciated!!!

Oh pigqueen - I feel for you on weeks like this when I know it is so crazy! You have such a great attitude and I bet you are a favorite cashier at your store! Hang in there and thanks for posting on here. It's great to have cashiers reading the blog and giving us input/advice, feedback, etc.

I was at the HT in Fuquay on Main street tonight after the class. It was soooooo quiet and they were out of a ton of stuff but I still managed to use 17 coupons and the cashier was very nice.

appstate - Savingstar coupons do not come off at the register. They get credited to your savingstar.com account in a couple weeks. Once you reach $5 you can cash it out. See their website for more info.

I also suggest you call HT customer service about the ZVR's and hopefully they will credit your card with the amount that should have come off so you don't have to make a special trip back in to the store. Good luck!

I have to say reading these comments as a couponer and HT cashier, you all are so nice! The coupon ladies that always come through my line are some of the sweetest people I work at 223 in Chapel Hill North of MLK Bld. and I love that! As a cashier you really appreciate the nice customers who are understanding about why something is taking so long, like waiting for an override. And I couldn't agree more to the previous comments about putting stuff back on the shelf. I am one of the cashiers they go to for putting items back and I do have to pick up what people just put in random places. It saves a lot of time and it is really nice to see a tidy store as well!

I went to the HT in Holly Springs on 55 and NONE of my ZVR digital coupons came off!! I noticed when I got home and knew something of off when I paid. My Savingstar coupons did not come off either so I am not sure what is up or why. Now I have to take the time to go back and get my money which makes me ill!!

3 quick visits: Cheerios, Froot Loops, Krave cereal, 2 Mahatma Saffron Rice, 2 Uncle Ben's bowls, Tidy Cat litter, Cat Chow, 2 Vidal Sassoon shampoos, 2 Wholy Salsa, 4-pk Activia, Advil LiquidGels, 3 Smart Balance Chocolate Milks (still have 1 to use, got it to print each family member's FB coupon), U-tampons, 3 bananas, 1 Vitamin Water (last 2 without coupons..had to get enout bananas to cover cost). Had and $8 Kroger coupon that the HT in Fuquay ahd no problem using! Total: $61.40 OOP $.02 (could have bough more FREE fruit if I'd done it in one visit & used my $5 off $50 Kroger Q I had)

My HT trip today in Wilson: 2 cereals, 2 blueberries, 2 aunt jemima pancakes, 2 HT cottage cheese and 1 Twining oolong tea - (OOP: $18.11 - Saved: $15.37). Got rainchecks for the freezer bags and meatballs as they were all gone.

Faye, the Falls of the Neuse/Spring Forest/North Ridge Teeter is my 'Home Teeter'...the staff there is the BEST!!!

I'm scratching my head on this one...but for $6.56 after taxes I got SUSHI (wine tag), .25 lb roast beef from the Deli (wine tag)two packs of hamburger (on sale, wine tag), 2 bags of 8 O'clock coffee, Stouffers lasagna, 3 Hormel Complete, 2 Franks Red Hot Sauce, 2 Kikkoman soy sauce, Radiant Tampons and Hershey's Simple Pleasures (raincheck), Kraft Fresh Take!!

Thanks beadhive and smolder13 for confirming that it was the Kikkoman $1 printable coupons that didn't double for me. Others who haven't yet used theirs can watch for this now that we know.

Thanks for the N Raleigh HT info, everyone! I really appreciate it!

Meredith, the HT at 401/1010 and the one at Tryon and Walnut (in cary) are both larger overall with a better selection than the North Hills HT (to me). Although N Hills is 2 story, they just don't carry as wide a selection. They are very nice at that store, though!

Thanks again for the help everyone!

My shopping trip yesterday was successful for me (OOP $53; saved $59). All of us use different items so although I would love to spend $2 and save $70 that just won't happen for foods that we eat/need this week.

One example is the Carnation Instant Breakfast powder that my husband drinks every morning - 365 days a year. He uses one container every two weeks! Regular Price $6.69 at HT ($5.30 on sale at Target). $1.50 coupon doubled making each can $3.69, which is a good price for us. So I'll be stocking up. This item will never be free.

I'd have to be at the store prior to 7am if I wanted to buy some of these items, so I go in the afternoon to buy the other good deals and get the Rainchecks. Sounds like many shoppers at 7:15/7:30 missed out but hopefully you asked for rainchecks.

Faye, the closest stores will be the one at Falls of Neuse and 540/Durant Rd (in the shopping center with the Kohl's), the one at Falls of Neuse and Spring Forest (it's a small store and doesn't carry everything), and the one at North Hills mall.

You said the one at North Hills is a small store? I'm curious if the stores near you are bigger than the ones in Raleigh because North Hills is the biggest Harris Teeter I have ever seen, it's 2 stories. That's my normal store mainly because it is so big so their stock seems to last longer.

ddalmas-My kikoman Q's didn't double either and the cashier had to do an override to make them double. Not sure why.

Faye - the closest to TTC is probably on Falls of the Neuse at 540 (Falls Pointe SC), the next option is Falls of the Neuse at Spring Forest (North Ridge SC). The Falls Pointe store is much larger & may have a better selection than North Ridge.

My kikkoman and seapak coupons didn't double and the manager wouldn't over-ride either so I just had them take the items off. I did get some great deals yesterday and today. I love Harris Teeter super doubles!

Faye, I think the one closest to you might be the one at Falls and Durant. I think they are the best! Their stock is usually pretty good, but I haven't been yet today. Just take 540 off of Capital and take the Falls exit. Turn left and it's up on our right. Good luck! I may wait until tomorrow because their truck comes tonight and they'll be well-stocked again.

Lunch trip today: Total cereal, Dole 4pk, 4 Yakisoba noodles, 2 Welch's chillers, 2 Perfect Pinch seas, HT napkins, 2 Tropicana grapefruit juice, 8 Buddig lunch meats. Total oop= $.28! Note: Seapak coupon I had for 1.25 is a dnd in small print. Did not realize it until it was scanned and it would not double.

Question for you guys...a while ago I had a friend give me a pack of wine/beer coupons. I am not sure what they are called but it is when you have this coupon you get a certain amount of money off your next purchase of meat or produce. Anyway how do you find these coupons?

Faye-I usually shop at the HT on Falls of Neuse. Take Capital to Spring Forest Rd. Turn R and go straight until you hit Falls of Neuse. Turn L and it will be on your left in a shopping centre. It seems to stay stocked pretty well and they are great with taking coupons!

Faye, there's one on Fall of Nuese before you get all the way down to the one at WakeMed. It's in a shopping center on the right. I've only been there once.

Thanks so much for the response, 40andtired! I usually shop the N Hills location when I am up that way but it's such a small store and they often seem to be out of the best deals (or just don't carry the item) during SD events.

Faye, my favorite location is North Hills and you can hit the beltline. Falls of Neuse is not too far but not sure what their stock would be like. They usually get a truck on Friday night.Good luck and happy shopping!

"Kikkoman soy sauce, 10 oz., $2.39 - $1 coupon on Smartsource.com = .39"

Has anyone had trouble with this coupon not doubling? By process of elimination at CS, we think these are the two coupons that did not double for me. They gave me cash back for the difference, because HT is great about that, but I'm still curious to know for sure if these were the ones, and why they beeped when scanned. I bought the lower sodium variety, which were $2.69 each, but think the wording on the coupon was "any Kikkoman soy sauce" so that should have been OK.

Wanted to say - I noticed my HT was messy, things people had put back on the wrong shelves. Please take the time to be nice to your cashiers and if you change your mind on a purchase either put it back where it belongs or hand it to an employee for them to put back. They work really hard on super doubles week so that's the least we can do."

I couldn't agree more. I had something in my cart yesterday and changed my mind at the last minute and put it back myself. I can't STAND when people put something in the wrong spot.... and that is why *I* have total control of my stockpile. *evil laugh here*

:)

I'm waiting until Saturday to go again once I see what my eVics are!

I made it to my HT yesterday around 3 pm and I was able to score the last 2 bags of Cooked Perfect meatballs and 1 of the last few Motts Applesauce. I was also able to get 2 Hefty storage bags and a box of trash bags! Got several of things - Cheerios, Kraft Fresh Take, etc. Spent $18.55, saved $61.27. Not my best, but still pleased!

Need your help N. Raleigh HT shoppers: I am teaching a class at a business tomorrow morning near Triangle Town Center. What is the best/closest Harris Teeter to shop at after the class? Is there a super coupon friendly HT in the area or one that is better stocked than others during these events? I will be heading back to Johnston County after shopping so I probably don't want to head too far east.

wildfrenchrose-I usually go to HT at least 3 times during SD as well although I've only gone once so far. Planning on going tomorrow morning and again on Sunday morning before church.

Nakabi, that's the store I shop on Sundays. Although I'm hitting it after work today and Saturday this week, as well. Gonna find gas money--has to come from the grocery budget, so I don't have the luxury of just one trip/week.

anyone know when the truck comes again for the HT on Falls of Neuse? I'm thinking tonight, but not positive and can't get anyone to answer the phone at that store :)

jesus4grace, yes, it's a one use digital coupon - however, when you get home from the store, sign in and check available e-vic coupons because sometimes the same one will show up again as a choice! Not often, but sometimes.

Are zvrs usable only once during the promotion period?

I went to HT again in FV. They didn't have several things I wanted but was able to change out some coupons.

2 poise pads, 2 worsteshire, 4 cans rotel, 2 boxes cheerios, 4 marchuran noddles, 3 boxes mac & cheese, and a couple other things I'm sure I'm forgetting.

OOP $4 and some change with coupons, RR, ECBs and a total off next order....saved $45.00. Cashier said that most people don't use coupons right (or don't know how to use them correctly) and that I had the best total she'd seen so far... lol she must NOT have met the "Faye's" of the world...because I'm sure Faye could've gotten it a little lower. :) That IS a 90% savings though now that I think about it...not too shabby. :)

Oh and they still had the MOTTS applesauce to go.....I was surprised at that.

Just a FYI- The HT in Cameron Village still has Krave cereal, Fruit Loops, Frosted Flakes, the rice cups, the yakisoba noodles cups, Welches Chillers Juices- (They are $1.77 each and there was a coupon from a few weeks back for .75 off any 1. It works with this deal so I scored them for .27 each! LOVE IT!) They were out of the Smart Balance milk, the Cinnamon Jacks though.

I have a rain check for two cooked perfectly meatballs, but I only have one coupon. Will I get the rain check back and still be able to use it one more time or do I lose it since I am only going to use one. I hope you understand my question. Thanks in advance for your help.-Sasemers

I may have a q for you. email me at nakabinichols@gmail.com and I'll be happy to put it to you in the mail first thing tomorrow unless you want to pick it up (I work on Wake Forest Rd, near the North Hills HT and the one on Falls of Neuse.)

I was able to find another coupon, but would like to thank you very much for the offer. That was very kind of you.

I love Superdoubles! Love how my stockpile is looking!

I

2 Smart Balance Milk, 2 Palmerno pizzas, 1 Tide Boost, 3 Hormel Completes, 1 Smart Balance Butter, 3 Activa Yogurts, 2 Neosporian, 1 Cherrios and 6 Hefty Sliders. Paid $1.84.

Paid $5.50,saved $38.I only was able to get 2 of the Rice cups, that's all they had at 9 am.

I went to the Harris Teeter in Greensboro at Friendly Center. I have only been doing the coupon thing for about a year but I got $124 for $56. That included meats, cereal , juice , milk and other groceries like the rice and (also Kraft mac n cheese is a dollar with the dollar off of 3 you can get three boxes for $1) toiletries and other household items.. Thought I did pretty good. No applesauce there either..

Did anyone else have problems with the Hefty coupons? I bought hefty slider bags and two boxes of trash bags, but only three of the hefty coupons would double, it seems they're coded the same and it rejected the 4th coupon, even though I was buy two different hefty products.

So I merely had him remove the trash bag and will pick it up another day. Very strange!

You know you had a good shopping trip when the CS has to approve the total because you saved so much and the tells you "great job, Lady!" before she walks away.

ncbeachbound - I got the next to last box of Cheerios (wanted to leave 1 for someone else with a toddler) at around 10am at the Walnut/Tryon store. Had to climb up there and knock it down with a box...LOL!

I didn't do bad at all this morning...all my ZVR's came off without a problem, the only thing is once again all the baggies were sold out and I need them for daycare. =( Hopefully will come back in.

Here's my haul: 2 Heinz gravy, 5 packs of Pepsi, 2 Hefty trash bags, 1 Motts Applesauce, 1 Cheerios, 1 Pampers Wipes (.50Q plus .50ZVR), 2 Oreo grabs, 2 Pantene products ($2.00 Q plus $3.00 ZVR), Fructis Hair Treatment, Fructis Shampoo, Ester C ($3.00 ZVR plus $2.00 Q), - my total OOP was $30.23, but the sodas were a chunk of that and I didn't have the ZVR for Garnier Fructis products, also the Ester C is not cheap but I take it daily (was $3.69 after my stack).

HT Trucks are usually Thursday night. I was told today they were getting one tonight at 223 Chapel Hill North off MLK Blvd. HT also just did resets at my store so there were tons of markdowns and I was getting stuff for free and making money!

Getting a raincheck is the way to go. That way you can sometimes make it work even better for you. I used a raincheck today for Ball Park Franks that I had gotten during a SD event around the middle of last year. There is no expiration date on the rainchecks and I have a few that are over a year old in fact. Just waiting for new coupons to line up with a SD/triples event. So it can be a waiting game too.

I'm with you DianeNC. I used to go in the morning on the first day of SD (not super early, though) and found that it just stressed me out because it was not part of my normal routine and made me upset when what I wanted was not available. Now I just go on my normal Friday afternoon or Saturday morning trips and it works out much better for me.

It's funny to see the only shoppers early a.m. SD ... all with binders and the same items in our carts. I'm not an early morn person either but I made myself get up and go...at least I don't have to get kids dressed too.
