Harris Teeter & Lowes Foods weekend specials!

Posted August 2, 2013

Both Harris Teeter and Lowes Foods usually have some weekend specials for their e-Vic and Fresh Rewards members. Check your Friday e-mails from both stores to see the deals you received and then share them here.

What deals did you get this week?

Remember, the deals we receive on Fridays are different for each person and you may have totally different deals than those I receive. Check your Friday e-mails from both grocery stores to see the specific deals that are loaded to your reward cards. If you don't already receive the e-mails from these stores, you can sign up online at both company websites or call the customer service number on your rewards card:

jdouglas, I have been trying to be mindful of things I can pick up for donations, PB is big on most food banks lists. I have also been picking up things like finger nail polish for cheap and other items like that which I know are on the Salvation Army Santa list for stockings. I gave a bunch of it last year. I expect that the list is going to be even longer this year because of the economy.

Scoutmom, great job at HT! Thanks for the reminder about the peanut butter as a good donation item. I have more PB coupons than I can use, but maybe I'll buy extra to donate.

Charmin is one of the brands I'm loyal to also. Remember to compare apples to apples when considering a deal. One mega roll of Charmin equals 4 regular rolls. I won't pay more than $1 for a mega roll, and prefer to pay less. Target often has deals where you buy 2 packages of 9, 12, or 16 mega rolls, and get a $5 GC back. Matched up with a coupon, sometimes it is a pretty good deal.

Another place to watch for deals on Charmin is Food Lion. About once a quarter they have a three day sale where a 6 mega roll pack is $4.99 pre-coupon. They tend to run out quickly, but their rainchecks are awesome -- no quantity limit and no expiration date.

For places with good raincheck policies (HT, FL, CVS, Walgreens), sometimes I will try to time it so I end up with the raincheck rather than the actual item. It's like a little insurance policy that I can get the item at a good price and at my convenience.

Oh and total for that was 27.57, which isn't bad at all for no super doubles or triples.

Just got back from HT, saved over 64%, picked up 4 cans of Dole pineapple, 2 Wisk, 2 Dawn (works great on fleas for the dog, only thing that worked),2 32 oz. clorox clean up, 2 Skippy Peanut Butter (to good a deal to pass up even though my kids won't eat it,but it is a very good donatable item), 1 Crest Pro-Health Rinse, 1 Nesquik syrup (no coupon and more expensive then the Hershey's but no high fructose corn syrup either), 2 gallons of milk and 5 bags of HT shredded cheese. So blessed to live close to so many HT's that I can go again tomorrow after I get the paper for the Lysol Wipes coupon.

there is also a $1.00 off coupon for 2 windex products on I did not clip the one from sundays paper. Thank god for plan B.

So sad that I did not get the Klondike ZVR, neither did my MIL. Guess we need to appreciate the deals we do get from HT and hope they continue

thanks, DianeNC and juliemom2! I have heard that drugstores are the best place to get Charmin - it helps to have a target price that is considered decent by more experienced couponers.

brandiel - I'm a brand snob too when it comes to Charmin. That is an OK deal. It works out to be about .49 per roll without coupon. I try to keep around .41 (CVS has good deals when they have the $10 back and I use $ off any purchase email coupons). If you need it I would buy.

brandiel - although it doesn't look like it's been updated in a while, below is the link to Faye's Price Book:

In respect to bath tissue, she doesn't mention any brand by name, but for a 12 double roll or 24 regular rolls package, she lists her lower buy price as $3.00 or less with sales, coupons and drug store rewards and a higher buy price of $5.00.

Unless you've got an e-VIC and/or coupon for the Charmin, it sounds like $5.97 would most definitely be on the high end. (Unfortunately, the manufacturer coupons you see for Charmin are always very low, like $0.25 off - even doubled, that doesn't bring the price down much.)
