The Wall Street Journal and Reuters reported that Harris Teeter is considering putting itself up for sale. What will this mean for all of the loyal Harris Teeter shoppers out there? Well that depends on who buys the chain.
Reuters reported that Kroger and Publix would likely be interested in the Matthews, NC-based grocer. Publix has just entered the Charlotte market with stores in South Carolina and Kroger has stores throughout North Carolina.
According to the reports, Harris Teeter shares increased 6.6% with the news of a possible sale. At this point, they have retained the financial company J.P. Morgan Chase & Co. Until there is an actual buyer, there is no telling what will happen to Harris Teeter, double coupons and Super Double coupons.
As many of you posted on the blog this morning, it would be a shame to see Harris Teeter stores bought by a company that does not offer the kinds of deals we see now. But if that does happen, we'll just work that much harder to find the best deals and make ends meet.
Feel free to vent your sadness, frustration, utter hopelessness (just kidding) and general thoughts on the possible sale of Harris Teeter.

Also saves gas, travel time, and money. For $1.00 to $2.00 spent on a package of seeds you can grow several dollars worth of vegetables.
I started small, one 4'x8' plot. Each year I add another one. Now I have six. My family and I have enjoyed 100's of dollars worth of food from our garden. What can be fresher than a tomato pick just a few minutes before it goes in your salad on on a sandwich?
Use the Internet and search for topics such as square foot gardening. There are several sites with written and/or video instruction and links to gardening resources.

HT is the only local grocery that allows the use of paper coupons stacked with their digital coupons. Only they and Lowe's do super doubles and on a regular basis doubles up to 99 cents. Kroger doubles to 50 cents but that might change (they have already announced that they will no longer double in Ohio, KY and Tenn.) Food Lion does not double at all. Publix does double but how much depends on the area and I don't think they do super doubles. I do not know very much about Wegman's.
