— A Harnett County teacher has been placed on administrative leave after a kindergarten student said the teacher duct-taped his hands together, officials said Tuesday.

A teacher at Boone Trail Elementary School, whose name hasn't been released, was placed on leave with pay after the alleged incident was reported March 30, officials said.

The child told another teacher of the alleged incident, which was then reported to school officials.

A spokeswoman for Harnett County Schools said the district takes all allegations of abuse of students seriously.

So, teachers can't discipline your kid? Of course, no one should go to the extreme alleged in this article, but how is a teacher supposed to manage a classroom full of children if he or she isn't authorized to discipline your precious baby? Parents who think this way often have the worst behaved kids, and it isn't ironic. I am a teacher AND a parent, and I will LOVE when teachers discipline my child because such discipline will reinforce the rules and structure my child experiences at home.

Notice that I said "especially in a manner like this"!! I have a VERY well behaved child so there is NO NEED of discipline for my child. "MY PRECIOUS BABY" has a structured home enviornment she knows better but thanks anyway :) When I was in elementary school back in the 80's, paddles were in use then which I thought was EXTREME! FYI: There was NEVER a need for them with myself either! The 2 teachers that used those paddles later in years were arrested. One arrested for locking a

Not taking sides but I am usually skeptical when kids that young make accusations. We'll have to see how this unfolds, although really duct-taping a kid's hands doesn't really scream abuse to me.
