Harnett inmate found guilty in attempted rape of prison sergeant

LILLINGTON, N.C. — A Harnett County prisoner was sentenced to life in prison without parole on Wednesday in the attempted rape of a prison sergeant.
Robert Donnell Johnson Jr., 41, was found guilty of attempted first-degree rape and first-degree kidnapping.
Johnson was already serving a life sentence and could have become eligible for parole, said Victoria Hardin, an assistant district attorney for Harnett County. Hardin said Johnson lost any chance of parole after the attack of the female prison sergeant in February 2007.
Johnson went into the sergeant’s office asking for a coat hanger, but instead pushed the woman into a bathroom – causing the woman to hit her head on the toilet, Hardin said. The toilet was moved from its base during the incident.
The woman’s foot was also injured and she received a cut on her chest, Harden said.
