Halloween Craft: Paper plate spider web

We hung up the few Halloween decorations we have last weekend. And once they were all up, my kids started clamoring to make more.

All you need is a paper plate, some markers or crayons, a hole punch, a little yarn and a plastic toy spider (or, in my case, some black construction paper that you can turn into a spider). This very easy craft engaged both my four-year-old and eight-year-old.

Cut out a large circle out of the center of the plate. I used a large oatmeal can to trace.

Let your kids decorate the plate with the hole in the center as they wish. My older daughter decorated hers like a tree. My younger one ended up with a more abstract design.

Punch about 12 holes around the circle.

Tape or tie a piece of yarn onto the back of the plate and have your child thread the yarn through the holes in a criss cross pattern. Once they are done, tape the end of the yarn to the back of the plate.

You can glue on the plastic spider. Because I didn't have any of those on hand, I just cut out a small oval and eight small legs, which my kids glued together and then weaved into the web.
