Halifax sheriff seeking two charged in gun crime

Weldon, N.C. — The Halifax County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s help in finding two suspects accused of firing a weapon into a moving vehicle.
Omar D. Ponton and Vontray Antonia Hughes are charged with discharging a firearm into an occupied moving vehicle and injury to personal property for an incident that happened in Weldon.
Deputies said Ponton is also wanted for probation violation and assault by pointing a gun.
