Halifax school official on leave amid test-score probe

MiShawna Moore, the assistant superintendent for curriculum and instruction, began an unpaid 30-day leave Monday.

According to published reports in Charleston, one of the schools where Moore formerly served as principal had a 31 percent drop in state test results at the end of last year. The Charleston County School District has requested an investigation into the matter, but no evidence of testing irregularities has been alleged by district officials.

"I was not involved in any unethical or illegal activities as it pertains to the administration of the state test at my school,” Moore said in a statement.

She said she plans to return to Charleston during her leave of absence to meet with school and district officials in person.
