ROANOKE RAPIDS, N.C. — Halifax County deputies are seeking the public's help to locate a 27-year-old woman wanted on multiple charges in connection with a fatal home invasion Sunday in Roanoke Rapids.

Tierra Marie Burnell, of Halifax County, is charged with murder and accessory before the fact of armed robbery in the death of Chris Harrison. Burnell is known to frequent the Raleigh and Garner areas of Wake County, Halifax County Sheriff Wes Tripp said Thursday.

According to investigators, Harrison was shot and killed at about 11:30 p.m. Sunday during an attempted home invasion at his residence on South Zoo Road southwest of downtown Roanoke Rapids.

Law enforcement officials found Harrison lying face down in the doorway of his home. He had been shot twice, one in the head and once in the torso, Tripp said, and the home's door appeared to have been kicked in.

Shortly after, investigators found Monte Hines dead in a field near Harrison's home. He had been shot in the stomach. Tripp said Hines was found wearing a ski mask, and investigators believe he was attempting to rob Harrison prior to being shot.

Investigators wouldn't comment Thursday on how they think Burnell was involved in the incident.

No other information about the shooting was released, but authorities said they have recovered a weapon from the scene.

Tripp said he expects more charges to be filed in the incident.
