Halifax County man charged in pool hall shooting

A Halifax County man has been charged in connection with a shooting that happened Saturday night at Richardson's Pool Hall in Ringwood.

RINGWOOD, N.C. — A Halifax County man has been charged in connection with a shooting that happened Saturday night at Richardson's Pool Hall in Ringwood.

Michael Richardson, 46, of Littleton, is charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill and inflicting serious injury.

According to deputies, Richardson shot a 38-year-old man in the midsection at about 9 p.m. The victim, whose name has not been released, was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Richardson turned himself in to authorities on Sunday evening.

Richardson was being held in the Halifax County jail under a $50,000 bond. He is scheduled to make a first court appearance on Feb. 24.

The investigation of the shooting is ongoing.
