Hagan lands Harvard fellowship
Former U.S. Sen. Kay Hagan is trading Capitol Hill for Beacon Hill, spending the next few months at Harvard University as a fellow at the school's John F. Kennedy School of Government.

Hagan, who lost her bid for re-election to Republican Sen. Thom Tillis, is one of five fellows for the spring semester at the Kennedy School's Institute of Politics. The others are Massachusetts Attorney General Martha Coakley, former New York City Councilwoman Christine Quinn, Time magazine Washington correspondent Jay Newton-Small and Matt Lira, former deputy executive director of the National Republican Senatorial Committee.
“The Institute’s Spring Fellows represent the strong impact dedicated practitioners can have throughout politics and public service,” Institute of Politics Director Maggie Williams said in a statement. “We look forward to welcoming this accomplished group and are confident they will guide and support our students as they explore the many avenues to political engagement and public service.”
Former North Carolina Gov. Beverly Perdue also served as a Harvard fellow after she left office two years ago.
