— Raleigh police say an armed man went into a pizza parlor around 3:20 a.m. Thursday and shot one of the employees in the arm during a robbery attempt.

Tang Zhu was mopping the floor at PizzAmerica, 2810 Hillsborough St., when a man wearing black pants, a green shirt and dark hat came into the store with a gun and demanded money.

The gunman shot Zhu in the arm, police said. Emergency crews took him to WakeMed. He was expected to survive.

The gunman fled out the back door of the restaurant. Two other employees in the back of the restaurant were not hurt.

Police were looking for the gunman. They did not release a description of the man.

Investigators said they did not believe the man got any money.

Then please explain why there is so much crime TODAY then it was back in the 60's, 50's etc.? Is it the way YOU are raising your children compare to how our parents raised us?

I'm sure if the shooter is EVER identified, it won't be his fault. He's the product of child abuse/lack of parenting/socio-economic status, disadvantaged youth, etc.etc etc....

    BELLA28,

Your absolutely right, these types of things can happen anywhere and anytime. You can set all the rules you want, and take all the precautions you can...but the sad truth is that people are out there that don't mind hurting others to get something they want.

Unfortunately, since Pizza America is open till the wee hours of the morning, they make an easy target. All they are doing is filling a niche in the market and trying to make an honest living.

"why was the door unlocked?" According to the noon news broadcast they are open until 5:00 am.

That's what's wrong with this country. We should ALL be able to leave our houses and cars unlocked, windows open, etc., without fear of these animals robbing us.

Thanks for a good comment. In the past, we all could leave things unlocked. But with the high rate of crime, criminal are doing their best of keeping the good people locked up in their homes, etc. It would be nice when they catch these criminals to locked them up for 30 to 40 years.

    "why was the door unlocked?"

Why should it have to be?

Good point. That door should have been locked. And if it was locked and someone opened it for him then the rules should be changed.

I feel bad for the poor guy working there mopping the floor. But it made me lol a bit b/c pizz-america... sounds like something else... Has pretty bad food. Made me remember the days of staying up way too late and being desperate for food and them being the only place open. There is always shady ppl in there late at night. Mostly wasted college kids. But the food was pretty bad. Hopefully that guy will be ok though.
