Guess what I made today?

Posted August 14, 2013

I realized I had a number of cans of Pillsbury biscuits in the fridge that were expiring this week. Instead of making a ton of biscuits, my oldest daughter and I made a special treat this afternoon that the kids and their friends loved! Can you guess what I made?

As you can see from the picture above, we made Monkey Bread! I had never made it in the large Bundt pan before. It was pretty easy and tastes great. I found the recipe at Pillsbury.com and it didn't take much time at all.   Be warned though: this recipe makes a ton of Monday Bread. I think I will send some with my daughter to bring to her friends at band camp as well!

I did amend the recipe slightly. I added some cashews, almonds and dried cranberries from one of the Fisher trail mix packs that I got for free at Super Doubles this morning. It gives it a nice zing!

Have you ever made Monkey Bread?  Do you add any fun ingredients?

My daughter cut up the Pillsbury biscuit dough and made pull-apart cinnamon muffins. She also made a yummy glaze to pour over them. I used the other can of biscuits and made pizza bread. I pulled the Grands apart, lay them on a cookie sheet and added sauce and cheese (I pre-baked for 10 minutes before topping and baking the rest of the way).

jdouglas - the cream cheese or powdered sugar would have been great on this, but even without it, the whole gang was all over it. Even my husband who does not eat a lot of sweets was nibbling on it all evening.

LOL - what is so funny about my typo is that I called it Monday Bread at the end of the post as well. I caught that one before posting but totally missed the other one. I am on a serious sleep deficit though so I am not surprised.

DianeNC - really is easy to make!

It looks delicious and I'll be right over j/k. Something I've always wanted to make but was afraid I'd eat the whole thing myself! If you ever want to gild the lily, you could put a powdered sugar or cream cheese glaze over the top a la Cinnabon.

    Reminds me of Monkey bread..........

But since you made it today, wouldn't it be Wednesday Bread? ;-)

Thought for a minute that Monday Bread might be a non-offensive re-titling but couldn't think who might be offended by the original.

Whatever you call it, it's yummy!

Is it difficult to make (for someone like myself who is not adept at cooking/baking, that is, LOL...)?
