Guardsman Killed in Wreck

A North Carolina Army National Guard soldier died in a single-car accident in Greensboro Saturday morning, police said.

GREENSBORO, N.C. — A North Carolina Army National Guard soldier died in a single-car accident in Greensboro Saturday morning, police said.

Sgt. James Allen Lynch, 29, of Maiden, was en route to a scheduled drill at the time of the accident, authorities said.

Lynch was assigned to E Company, 1st Battalion / 130th Aviation Regiment in Morrisville as an ammunition supply section chief. He joined the unit in May 2006 after serving almost six years on active duty with the Marine Corps, including a tour of duty in the Middle East.

He is survived by his mother, daughter and fiancé. Funeral arrangements are pending.
