Get out your dancing shoes: 12 daddy-daughter, family dances to celebrate Valentine's Day across Raleigh, Durham, Triangle

Local groups are gearing up for a season of Valentine's Day dances for families. Some are designed for dads and daughters. Others are designed for mothers and sons. And some are designed for the whole crew to spend a fun evening together.

It's time to shine those shoes and press those dresses.

Local groups are gearing up for a season of Valentine's Day dances for families. Here's where to find them:

Marbles Kids Museum's Family Heart Hop from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., Feb. 8. Tickets are $20 (and $15 for museum members). Participate in crafts and activities, enjoy some treats, play in the exhibits and, of course, dance the evening away.
The annual Daddy-Daughter Dance at Laurel Hills Community Center on Edwards Mills Road in Raleigh is 6:30 p.m .to 8:30 p.m., Feb. 7. Tickets are $17 for residents and $32 for non-residents. Tickets include heavy hors d'oeuvres, a flower for each daughter and door prizes. A photo area will be set up and staff will be available to take pictures. Pre-registration required. Contact the community center to get your tickets, which are limited at last check.
Raleigh also is hosting a Mommy and Son Valentine's Masquerade Dance from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., on Feb. 7, at Chavis Community Center. Tickets are $5 for all participants. The dance is for all ages. Enjoy a night of dancing, light refreshments and pictures. This year, the event includes a masquerade mask design contest.
Celebrate Family's 14th annual daddy-daughter and seventh annual mother-son dances will be 5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m., Feb. 8, at the Sheraton Raleigh Hotel. Tickets are between $30 and $65 and include an evening of music and dancing in a ballroom, along with dinner, complimentary photos and more.
Orange County parks will hold its Family Valentine's Dance from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., Feb. 7, at the Central Recreation Center. Tickets are $8 per person and include light refreshments, DJ, and one 5 X 7 photo of you and your child. This is for the whole family, not just dads and daughters. Mothers and sons are welcome too. Registration ends Jan. 31.
Smithfield Recreation and Aquatics Center will host its annual Daddy Daughter Dance from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m., Feb. 22. Tickets are $45 for Smithfield dad and daughter; $55 for non-Smithfield residents, and $5 for each additional daughter.
Goldsboro's Daddy Daughter Dance is 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Feb. 7, at the Goldsboro Event Center, 1501 S. Slocumb St., Goldsboro. Tickets are $20 per couple. You can register online. It's designed for dads and their daughters, ages 4 to 12.
A Daddy Daughter Dance is slated for 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., Feb. 15, at the Garner Senior Center.
Durham's daddy-daughter dance is 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., Feb. 8, at the Durham Armory. For ages 2 and up. Tickets are $10 for residetns and $15 for non-residents. (Note: This event has a waiting list.)
Cary's annual Daddy-Daughter Dance is Jan. 31 and Feb. 1 for ages 4 to 12 and their dads. Tickets sell out quickly for this one.
Ties and Tiaras: A Daddy Daughter Dance is 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., April 4, at Ivy Community Center in Durham It's designed for daughters ages 4 to 17 and their dads, uncles, grandfathers and other mentors. Tickets start at $11.
