WRAL chief meteorologist Greg Fishel was busy talking about pressure patterns and isobars during Friday night's 11 p.m. newscast when "pop" – a button flew off his suit jacket.

"I just popped a button!" a stunned Greg told viewers as he smiled at the camera. "I have never done that in 31 years of broadcasting, which means I've got a little too much here (patting his stomach)."

On a side note, how funny that the word "PRESSURE" is written in a graphic above his head.

Viewer Mica Parekh quickly took to Twitter to thank Greg for the funny moment, tweeting: "@IWPPhotography: Greg, that was the funniest thing eve when u popped your jacket button tonight! We needed the laugh after such a sad day."

What Mica and other viewers didn't see was Greg rushing to the back of the newsroom during a break to get help from our resident emergency seamstress, assignment editor Kelly Riner.

"I popped a button!" Greg told Kelly, pointing to his jacket.

"How long do I have?" she asked.

"Five minutes," he said, quickly handing her the jacket.

Within seconds, Kelly grabbed a sewing kit she keeps nearby and began reattaching the stubborn button.

"This is a temporary fix. Don't mess with it," she warned Greg.

Kelly is no stranger to wardrobe malfunctions. She has fixed fashion disasters before for anchor Debra Morgan, who bought Kelly the sewing kit, and anchor David Crabtree.

"I've probably sewed 20 buttons for David in 10 years ... for real," Kelly said.

Thanks to Kelly and Greg for this behind-the-scenes picture of the button blooper:
