Greenville man nabbed on 20 fraud-related charges

The U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force and the Pitt County Sheriff's Office nabbed a convicted felon Thursday and charged him with 20 fraud-related offenses.

GREENVILLE, N.C. — The U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force and the Pitt County Sheriff's Office nabbed a convicted felon Thursday and charged him with 20 fraud-related offenses.

Anthony Leon Cannon, 42, of 4106 Bridge Court in Greenville, was being held in the Pitt County jail on a $512,000 bond. He is listed as a probation absconder from 24 months of supervised probation after a felony conviction for obtaining property by false pretenses.

He faces felony worthless check, obtaining property by false pretense, assault, common law robbery and probation violation charges from the Greenville Police Department, the Pitt County Sheriff's Office, the Edgecombe County Sheriff's Office and the Grifton Police Department.

Authorities launched an investigation in Cannon and his construction business in September 2010.
