Greensboro woman arrested in Mebane hit-and-run

Mebane police on Friday charged and arrested a Greensboro woman with the hit-and-run death Sept. 4 of Christopher Scott Askey.

MEBANE, N.C. — Mebane police on Friday charged and arrested a Greensboro woman with the hit-and-run death Sept. 4 of Christopher Scott Askey.

Police investigators connected Barbara Bigelow Wyatt, 77, of 1611 Rankin King Drive in Greensboro, with the collision near the intersection of North Third and West Center streets that killed Askey and charged her with hit and run, misdemeanor death by motor vehicle and operating a vehicle without insurance.

Wyatt turned herself in to authorities around 10 p.m. She was jailed under a $250,000 bond.

They have asked for help from the public to find Wyatt. Anyone with information is asked to call the Mebane Police Department at 919-563-9031 or Alamance County Crime Stoppers at 336-229-7100.
