Go to A&T's website. They did an excellent job. I agree with weneed2pray. It is about race and gender. There are a lot of black women that have been killed like that but it is not newsworthy to them. I think it has to do with socioeconomic status as well. Sad :(

WRAL does not wish to get anymore information on this man. Although he was in college furthering his education, he obviously is not as important as Eve Carson, also a slain college student. It's hilarious how CBS/ WRAL picks and chooses the information they wish to air. I wonder if Derek was another race, gender or maybe of another socioeconomic background would they have covered his story then?

Derek was the sweetest man that anyone would ever have the blessing to meet. And I do mean man. He acted in the kindest ways and always gave an ear to listen and a shoulder to cry on. It is true, the good die young. I can't understand why the drugdealers, gangbangers and rapest get to live, but the innocent are taken. He is gone but NEVER forgotten. I will follow this until the one(s) that took him from us are struck with justice. My prayers are with the Hodge family. And with the police....this is a case that will not go unsolved.
