— A fire at an abandoned house in Granville County on Thursday night was the fourth blaze at the building in the past three years, authorities said.

The fire was reported at a home at Cannady Mill Road near the intersection of N.C. Highway 96. Authorities did not provide a specific address.

Granville County Fire Marshal Doug Logan said it appeared Thursday night's fire started outside the house, which was locked and did not have electricity turned on.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Sounds like there are people squatting there. How else would an abandoned house catch fire so often, but never burn down? There's got to be more to this.

Well the cause of some fires is obvious - if the FD shows up and finds an exploded space heater in a bedroom, problem solved. However, a house with no electricity where the fire started outside is a bit suspicious.

@earl - yeah. WRAL's writers have awful grammar. I've spoken to several staff, etc. about it, but they just don't seem to care.

Just wondering what a "at blaze is" Must be something they never covered in my school, not even in my Navy fire training.

Oh, that particular house fire gets an investigation, that must mean it was properly insured.
