Grade school, high school writers sought for contests

The first is the annual PBS Kids Writers Contest for kids in kindergarten, first, second and third grade. Stories are accepted through March 20. Each contest participant will receive a Certificate of Achievement. First, second and third place winners will receive prizes. First and second place winners will have their stories animated on-air and online. UNC-TV also will submit the first place winners from each grade to PBS KIDS for national judging.
The winner receives $250 and publication of the essay in the fall edition of Environmental News, the quarterly publication of the Environment, Energy & Natural Resources Section of the North Carolina Bar Association.
