Gov. Bev Perdue charged the members of her Econimc Development Board with doing the impossible Thursday. At the first meeting of the group tasked with re-thinking the state's economic structure, she asked for an outline of a plan by Jan. 31, 2010.

"There will be people who think this may be crazy and can't be done," she said. "I'm sick and tired of people telling us we can't."

"We're going to put into place a system of economic development that works for every county and every city in this state ... and you're going to help me convince the General Assembly that the laws we need to make this work are critical laws," she said.
