Gov picks Broncos

Posted January 28, 2014

Gov. Pat McCrory holds a news conference at the Governor's Mansion on Jan. 21, 2014.

— Gov. Pat McCrory says he'll be cheering for the Denver Broncos in Sunday's Super Bowl match-up against the Seattle Seahawks.

Asked by a reporter Tuesday, McCrory explained that he and Broncos head coach John Fox are personal friends.

Fox was head coach of the Carolina Panthers from 2002 to 2010, overlapping McCrory's tenure as Charlotte's mayor. Fox still lives in Charlotte.

McCrory said he called Fox when the coach experienced heart trouble on a North Carolina golf course last November and subsequently underwent heart surgery.

"We're very close," the governor said.

Spokesman Ryan Tronovitch said McCrory will host a Super Bowl party Sunday at the Executive Mansion for cabinet officials, advisers and friends.

Funny how the leftist find this political. The man can't root for a team based on his own, individual preference. How many will find various reasons why this is an insult to somebody else and done on purpose.
You just can't make this stuff up folks!

Speaking as an individual who voted for this guy: "I can't believe I voted for this guy."
McCrory has absolutely no common sense. And we wonder why the national media' focus on North Carolina is to make it look like a jokeā€¦ I'm sure we'll be hearing alot about this on SuperBowl Sunday! McCrory is such a m _r_ n. (Feel free to fill in the blanks.)

Seriously?!? He couldn't even side with the team whose quarterback has hometown ties? Shame on you Gov McCrory! Way to stand by your own!

Yep. The same way he picks his political appointees!

  • wolfpack317 Jan 28, 2014

So he picked them because he's friends with the coach? Horrible expert analysis.

This NC State fan is pulling for the Broncos. I mean, it's not like the Broncos don't have a former member of the NCSU Wolfpack Football team playing with them. Nate Irving. Linebacker.

    Go get'em!
