If you cross the North Korean border illegally, you get 12 years hard labor.
If you cross the Iranian border illegally, you are detained indefinitely.
If you cross the Afghan border illegally, you get shot.
If you cross the Saudi Arabian border illegally, you will be jailed.
If you cross the Chinese border illegally, you may never be heard from again.

If you cross the Cuban border illegally, you will be thrown into political prison to rot.
However, if you cross the United States border illegally, you get a job, a driver's license, a social security card, welfare benefits, food stamps, credit cards, subsidized rent or a loan to buy a new house, free education, free health care, a lobbyist in Washington and, in many instances, you can VOTE.

You need to watch the video of the events. It will make everything exceedingly clear. There is no room for "walking a mile in someone's shoes" where the law is concerned. He either broke it (several of them, actually) or he didn't. I'm not sure you are grasping the magnitude of just how wrong his actions really were.

The same one you read. Consider the circumstances: an officer of the court improperly invades the property of the attorney (her briefcase), improperly removes privileged materials from it (theft, violation of attorney-client privilege & the work product rule, deprivation of rights under color of law, and possibly even obstruction of justice in the bargain) and then profers perjurious testimony in his explanation of his actions.
And all the court in this case came up with is that he has to apologize for it or face contempt?
At a bare minimum, and I do mean bare minimum, he should have been fired. Were these my files that he'd taken, I'd be going after a great deal more than a contempt charge and an apology.

That must impress the ladies at the bar but not me, can I use that line for my personal use?"
my point was, which you failed to realize is that i am more deeply entrenched in the reality of the business world than you could ever imagine. i was stating that because you suggested that i need to step into the real world.
