about healthy eating and lifestyle

This group can be utlized to post healthy recipes (low fat/ low carb/ low sugar, etc).

It can also be utilized to discuss exercise or even possibly create an exercise support group.

One of the biggest reasons, we fail is lack of support and lack of actual lifestyle changes.  Also, people don't realize that eating healthy doesn't have to mean, eating bland, boring foods!  Because of this, people tend to binge or revert back.

Live it up, kick it up and let's work on feeling awesome together! Because alone, we can make things happen, together we can change anything.

Got my glucose meter today to begin a 60 day, twice a day blood sugar reading for the Dr. Someone please give me a clue on what to stay away from and what to eat. The Dr was adamant I stay away from bread, which I love. The only other thing he mentioned was sweet drinks, which I don't usually drink anyway. Any other ideas will be appreciated.

I think this is a great idea. In response to Animal Lover's comment that is a matter of opinion and totally up to the individual. I'm looking forward to trying new recipes :-)

Animal Lover, while yes, there will be some recipes on here. I'm also hoping people can promote just the healthy lifestyle as well, that goes beyond food.

it's positive motivation, help, encouragement. I'd love to even get a group together maybe once or twice a month to do some long walks together or hikes.

One of the biggest reasons I've been able to lose what I have and keep it off, is support of other people along the way. Studies have shown over and over and over that those who lose a lot of weight or even try to change their lifestyle to better themselves to a healthy way, succeed better when they have a support sytem in place.

If you don't want to stay, that's ok. We still love you and your welcome to stop by and say hi and provide encouragement to us. I know I'd love to have it.

tidbit: I don't have much of a support system in place. I'm like a teetotaler in an alcoholic world: no one wants to hear of the dangers of eating meat, poultry, dairy or seafood, and most everyone is in complete denial of the problems these foods cause in our bodies.

It's been wonderful to even have such a narrow-minded comment to this effect on my profile already since my post at 1:33 PM. Thus, my reluctance to join your group, but I have joined the vegan/veggie one.

I love animals too. Fried and on a plate.

I am committed to a healthy lifestyle. I have changed by eliminating most animal products, walking and going to the gym and drinking more water.

In a recient blog some one was talking about peanut butter and a delivery system being bread. Try celery, it is a little better for you than bread is.

REMINDER: Everyone has the capbabilities to post blogs to this group!

SORRY! I'm behind. Had a sinus infection and then had a bone grafting done in my jaw. Been really out of sorts. I'll get back on track here in the next couple of days.

The Greek yogurt is really tasty--especially with fresh strawberries and honey from the Farmer's Market.

The funny thing is that my cat hears me scraping my spoon on the bowl and will come flying into the room with a big, "MAAOW!!" which is my cue to let him lick the bowl clean. I used to let him clean out the plastic yogurt containers but up to now, I've never let him eat off my plates etc. Hopefully the dishwasher gets cat cooties off well because he digs that yogurt.

He also gives the Greek yogurt 2 paws up.
