The kids are all grown and all live out of state. Some close enough to visit but none close enough to come asking for help every time we turn around. Plus my husband is a long haul trucker. He's on the road 3 weeks at a time, then home for 3-4 days, and gone again. We don't have TIME to fight much! And when we do, we figure we'd better settle it quick because he'll be on the road again before we know it! Granted that means that I am responsible for many things around the house and yard that most wives can call on their husbands for, but I've always been a DIY'er anyway so that doesn't bother me. And to top it off, I don't work unless I WANT TO. I spent many years as a single parent before I married this one, so I know what it's like to try to hold down a household and a job at the same time.
I really feel like I'm lucky to be in a marriage like mine.
