about ode2joy

I enjoy life and the beauty that exists around me.  One reason I love photography is I may help make someone else open their eyes to the wonder that exists everywhere.  Another reason is: my father loved photography and this is something I inherited from him. I like to think he would be proud of me. I have been married 35 years and have a 25 year old son.  I am a nurse and love people.

Thanks! My dad was doing great when I left.

{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{Ode}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}

It is really sad to hear things like that. :( I still think it should all be turned over to the police - that is the only way predators are stopped from going after other victims. Sleep well, and I hope you'll feel better when you wake up. {{{{{HUGS}}}}}

~"You don't get down off an elephant,you get down off a duck."... ode2joy~

LMBO!!! That was good!!! I had to read it twice, and tilt my head to the side to get it hahahahaha Thanks for the laugh, and the realization that I have some "blonde moments"....

Good morning again. :)

According to my son, that's an awesome movie, so I'm sure you will enjoy it. You will be missed, but I hope you will have a grand time with hubby. :) Have a blessed day. {{{HUGS}}}

I so love that picture of the cat!!!!

Thank you for your support. I'm just ready to put the past behind me AND let others know that they need to be very careful who they trust.

(((HUGS)))

Good Morning,I just looked at you image gallery of flowers they are beautiful.How do you keep your violet looking so beautiful ? I don't have good luck with mine.Wishing you a great weekend.

Thank you for this information,as you can tell I'm not very good with flowers lol.Hope you have a very good day and weekend.

I missed your good morning this morning!

So late good morning to you =)

Hey there! Let me know what your son says about the kitty!

This cat really is sweet. He's actually sweeter than the one that I have. Dexter is lucky that I don't believe in trading up or he'd be out on the street and the stray one would be hanging out in here. LOL

Thanks for your reply. I am just geting ready to go fishing today. I'm gonna give birth to another good fish story.

Gangway! Here I come.

I enjoy your pics. You hav a great ability at "framing" your shots. From what I can tell her you have great knowledge of the mechanics of the camera. Focusing, film type, shutter speed and "f" stop enhance your work.

Thanks for your pictures.

Thanks for checking. :)

Hi, Ode! I'm probably crazy! I only have two at home, however, so that kinda detracts from the insanity factor, LOL...My oldest (24) is in the Air Force. My second son (17) lives with his dad in Nevada (his choice, not mine, but apparently a good one), my 14 y/o lives here with his step sister (13), and then there are the dogs, so that's the equivalent of one all by themselves. I don't get the priveledge of having them all under one roof very often, but when I do, it's a celbration. My kids are total hams. (They take after me, I guess.)

Hope you had a great weekend!

So what's shifting a little background and trimming the edges of a picture. Yo have to have an eye for that too.

You've done well at that.

Elaine, Thank you for your kind words of encouragement. I am on the upswing again, and knowing your enemy is the best way to defend against "it". Please feel free to ask away any time with car stuff. I am no expert, but it does help me stay sharp....

We love Guardian Angel, especially because it benefits Alzheimer's patients, and because our dad and grandmother were both stricken with it.

We also like Cause for Paws because it benefits animals.

Our house is near the corner of Johnston County Road and Benjamin Lane if you know where that is.

And I'll most likely be quizzing you regarding what else is available in FV. We know bits and pieces of it because of going to Guardian Angel, but I'm sure there's more there than we know.

I know there's a Bank of America out there, though not sure where. So if you know that, it would be great.

We are getting so excited.

God bless.

RB

How's it going, ode2joy? Just stopping by to say hello! Hope your Tuesday goes great, and that the rest of the week goes even greater! Take care, and stay safe out there.

We saw the ice cream place out in the middle of no where and thought, "What?" But it's good to know that their product is good and that the word has spread out there, cause maybe they'll make it through these tough times.

And Lord only knows, I'm a sucker for hot fudge sundaes - just like our mom was. ;o)

Will be moving that week, and then leaving for PA from 7/1 to 7/20, so maybe more near the end of July or beginning of August. Does that sound ok?

With love.

God bless.

RB

I'm not much of a morning person, myself! :) I'm a late-nighter, so my posts usually come around midnight. I need to change that, though!

I've been using a Nikon D50 since December 2006, and it's still going strong (and I hope it won't die now that I've said that)! I've just been a snapshot photographer since around 2000/2001. As time passed, I started taking pictures of any and everything, and it's all evolved from there.

That bird & snake picture sounds incredible! A once-in-a-lifetime shot, it sounds like -- I can imagine it now.

Hi there! Hope you're having a great week. It's Wednesday. After today, it's a downhill slide to the weekend! Yay!

Chipper hours ago. It's now noon, and to me it should be quittin time, but no such luck, LOL. I still have about 4.5 hrs to go, but wanted to stop by and say hello. :) I would LOVE to work night shift, but they don't offer that to my job. :( I'm an owl by nature. Happy Wednesday! :)

hey, thank you !

Been 3 weeks yesterday and they STILL dont have the biopsy results in. GRRRRRRRRR

HOPE your having a GREAT week :)

PS love the pic of the furball !!!

Ode, I grew up in Italy, so I have a special love affair with food. LOL I really hope we can do this - I would LOVE to meet you in person. Have an awesome day!!! {{{{{HUGS}}}}}

Wow! I could never take any pictures like that -- they are truly once in a lifetime photo opportunities. The snake and the bird? The squirrel who looks like he's been hanging onto a bird feeder all day? Amazing.

Thanks for emailing it to me! Those photos make me so jealous... and they make me want to go outside and take pictures now -- so I'll see ya! :)

Oh I will absolutely have time, and more importantly the money, to go on dive trips and take photos. In fact I'm heading to Grenada on July 3 for a week of diving. I was actually going to go anyway but just without pay, but now it seems I'll get paid for my vacation as well even just starting. I am still a bit blown away by this awesome job op! I'll let you know when I get new pics posted-usually takes a couple of weeks to go thru them all since I generally take HUNDREDS on each trip (gotta love digital!)

TY for the pic compliment...I love Kudzu fragrance also. There's nothing like riding the motorcyle down into a low area during the cool of a summer night and literally plowing through a pool of that aroma from it's blooms.

Doing good this weekend. How about you and yours?

Not moving until 6/26 weekend. Packing now. Yuck!

;o)

God bless.

RB

TY Elaine for the background on your son and his friend. My alcoholic step Dad kicked me out of the house in the summer between 11th and 12th grades. It was a combination of his abusive nature and my rebellious natures clashing...but there I was. Homeless. After a brief two week jaunt riding freight trains south (I was 15) I stayed with an uncle in S.C. for a while and then a friend of mine from the church I went to and from school said his parents had prayed and considered that if I would like I could live with them and finish high school. Their love in opening up their home to me was what helped me graduate. It's people like you & your husband and the parents of my friend that makes the difference for so many kids that have no where else to turn. Thank you for what y'all did for that young man. He'll remember your kindness all of his life.

Thank you for givindg me some idea of what evolved with your son and his friend. Yes your son can be proud and you and your husband also that someone out there had a heart big enough to open it up for one who needed the love and guidance. That would make the difference in a criminal and man of society. Thank the lord there are still people as yours left out there in our society. It's getting awfully cruel for our kids who are growing up today. I have a saying that if a woman won't put the child's welfare before the lover than the woman is just a hatcher of a child and not a mother. Again I am so thankful when I come across stories as yours becaseu they are getting farther apart these days. you can bet that that child will have a love connection with you and your family more than he'll ever feel for the mother. I deleted your comment so everyone's eyes woudln't see it. We can get some vicious members on here at times.

Thank you for the post on my profile.I'm sure God is smilying down on you for what you did.May God bless you for all that you did.Wishing you a beautiful Sunday.God bless you my friend.

Great tree pictures! We just lost a tree to storms a couple weeks ago, so I've been looking for a nice ornamental tree to take its place -- something like a Japanese cherry or maybe even a low palm bush. The pictures definitely helped me out in that department!

Thanks again - have a great Sunday!

Hi ya', O2J. I didn't realize that we hadn't shook (shaken? which would be right?) hands yet. :)

(((((((((((((hugs)))))))))))) to you!!!

Hope you are having a great weekend!!!

That is exactly what I was looking at -- Japanese Maple! I liked the way it had smaller leaves & the shade wasn't total shade, but let some light through. They looked great!

The tree that came crashing down was a Bradford Pear that had gotten uncontrollably huge & heavy. The weight of the rain snapped it in half, and we had to cut the other half down last week.

Sugar maples look great in the fall, too -- the downtown in the town where I grew up had them lining the streets, and every year Main Street would turn a bright yellow/red/orange for a few weeks.

Before you write your sister in Germany these oranges are in the south of France. LOL I did research on the email I got and found that a lot of Internet sites said this was not Netherlands as is stated because they do not have palm trees and hills as the pictures on email. I found these in the parade for some festive in South of France, where they do have a lot of citrus growing. they have a orange festival in Netherlands but not this one. They dress up in orange and celebrate there, but no orange parade like this.

Let me know about that Golo family tree!!

Is it rude to do so or considered presumptuous?LOL"

If the blog is not "calling someone out" then you can repost at will. Knowing you, you are just gathering info and have no harmful intent.

If the blog is personal, then be prepared for other goloers to challenge you... as in a blog about family issues. However, if you feel that you posted an interesting blog at a slow time, then reposting is just fine.

{{{{{Elaine}}}}}}}}}}

How soon can you repost a blog if you feel you posted it at a bad time and how do you do it?

You can repost a blog anytime after it leave the front marque list. Repost to your hearts content. Most just copy the blog and picture and put repost in large letters I think. There may be another computer way but that is all I do.

What Lolly & LadyBlue said! Sorry, I left my computer for a while.

I googled the scientific name of the Four o'clocks, and one kind is called "Mirabilis jalapa"

Ode that is awesome. It is amazing when we help others the difference we can make in the world.

How awesome!!! Things like that are what makes you proud to be a parent. The way your son behaved toward his less fortunate friend really reflects the upbringing you were able to offer. I have so much admiration for you, your husband and your son, and ever for D, since he had the strength to pull himself from the predicament he was in and made something of himself. Kudos and blessings to all of you. :)

Thank You Ode!!! *HUGS* I know she will never be to far from home...I think her Sister was a bit upset last night and even went in her room and sat. I know it has to be hard on them also.

Hey,hope you are having a good Tuesday.Thank you for sharing your story with me.Enjoyed it very much.

Well hello there Granny!!

I hope your enjoying your Tuesday!!

((((((HUGS))))))

lol

no paddle boat today!

/*SIGH*/

I was ready for that though, gots me hat and everything!

and made Sandra one of my young aunts by your request! thanks

Gracious, chld! Whatever are you doing up at this hour? LOL

I am a third shifter as well and wanted to know if you would keep me posted on meeting next week. Most on here know me, just been kinda absent lately.

Good morning Ode! I would LOVE to meet for lunch. Any day is fine with me. I will likely have my children with me...is it okay? Have a wonderful day! {{{{{HUGS}}}}}
